Rochester, MN – The Waterloo Bucks defeated the Rochester Honkers 9-5 to take sole possession of first place in the Great Plains East Division on Wednesday, June 18, at Mayo Field.

With the score tied at two and no outs in the top of the tenth, Luca Perriello proceeded to the plate for his fourth at-bat of the day. After striking out in each of his first three chances, Perriello yanked a single into left field that drove in Ian Halverson from second base, putting the Bucks ahead for good.

Waterloo went on to score six more runs that frame with Will Johnson, Bennett Fryman, Larry Edwards, Ethan Rossi, and Jake Bechtel all plating runs to pad to the lead after Perriello’s go-ahead knock.

Juan Reyes delivered the seventh quality start of the season for the Bucks and the second in as many days as the righty yielded only four hits and two walks to the opposition while pitching six innings with five punchouts and no earned runs.

Tyler Glowacki got the win out of the bullpen, striking out four across three innings with a home run and a walk serving as the only blemishes on his line. The second-year Northwoods League pitcher now possesses a 5-0 record on just ten appearances, and this victory makes him tied for first in 2025 NWL wins with four.

Marcus Heusohn extended his on-base streak to 19 games with a walk in the top of the tenth, and Johnson notched his seventh multi-hit performance this year with a game-high three hits. Halverson’s fifth inning home run give him two long balls in the last three days.

The Bucks continue their road trip tomorrow as they cross the border into Canada to take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 5:35 pm (CDT) at Port Arthur Stadium.
