La Crosse, WI – The Waterloo Bucks dropped the series finale to the La Crosse Loggers at Copeland Park on Wednesday, July 9, losing 7-2.

After falling behind 5-0 through six innings of play, the Bucks scored two runs and got the tying run into the on-deck circle. From that point forward, Waterloo failed to get a single runner on base. The Bucks finished the contest 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

All-star reliever Tyler Glowacki loaded the bases to commence his night in the sixth inning. He then recorded a punchout in his 14th consecutive appearance and induced an infield popout to get his first two outs and keep the runners at bay. The next batter shot a ball of Glowacki’s hip, but, determined to keep the score where it was, he darted behind the mound, picked up the ball and threw out the runner approaching first to end the frame.

Aidan Elfering completed his outing with a season-high five strikeouts while walking only two through five innings. Jimmy Nugent picked up the lone RBI of the day for the Bucks, sending home Marcus Heusohn on a groundout to the second baseman.

Drawing a walk in the top of the second, Jake Slade extended his on-base streak to 17 games.

The Bucks return home to Riverfront Stadium tomorrow, Thursday, July 10, to start their last homestand before the All-Star break. Waterloo hosts the St. Cloud Rox — the team with the highest winning percentage in the Northwoods League — with game one of the series kicking off at 6:35 pm (CDT).
