Waterloo, IA – For the first time this season, the Waterloo Bucks lost their fourth straight game as they fell to the Duluth Huskies 15-9 at Riverfront Stadium on Saturday, July 12.

The Bucks scored the first run of the game for the third contest in a row, scoring two runs in the opening frame after Cole Smith and Marcus Heusohn reached on walks and eventually crossed the plate on a Duluth error. From that point forward, the Huskies scored 11 unanswered runs and got all the run support they needed for the rest of the game.

Jimmy Nugent hit the lone home run of the day for the Bucks by blasting a three-run shot over the center field wall in the bottom of the fifth. Those three runs driven in gave Nugent the most in the RBI category for the Bucks for the game.

Heusohn reached a total of five times in six plate appearances, picking up two singles and an RBI double while drawing two walks. He has now attained 12 multi-walk games this season. Owen Ross and Smith each earned doubles and drove in runs as well. Jake Bechtel added the team’s only other RBI with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to close the scoring on the day.

With his hit-by-pitch in the second, Jake Slade reached base safely in his 19th consecutive game, making him just four games shy of the 2025 team record of 23 set by Heusohn earlier in the year.

Tomorrow, Sunday, July 13, the Bucks will play the Huskies one final time before the All-Star break. First pitch is scheduled for 3:35 pm (CDT) at Riverfront Stadium.
