Eau Claire, WI – For the first time since June 30, the Waterloo Bucks earned a shutout victory with a 3-0 win over the Eau Claire Express at Carson Park on Tuesday, July 29.
Using just 92 pitches, Riley Fuller became the second Bucks player of the 2025 campaign to deliver eight consecutive scoreless frames in any outing this year en route to attaining his first Northwoods League victory. Fuller allowed a mere five baserunners for the entire contest, surrendering three hits and two walks.
The Bucks produced all their offense on four consecutive hits in the top of the fourth. Cole Smith commenced the rally by reaching on an infield single that Jimmy Nugent followed up with a double. Then, Caleb Parker opened the scoring with an RBI single into right field. While Parker stole second, Nugent darted for the plate to steal home. Michael Barham proceeded to close the scoring for the day by doubling home Parker to polish off a three-run frame.
Brandon Rice took the mound in the ninth and notched down his second save of the season, allowing just one hit and one walk in a scoreless frame.
With his base hit in the seventh, Larry Edwards extended his on-base streak to 22. Once aboard, he swiped second to record his 52nd stolen base of the year. Now, he needs only three steals to tie the NWL record of 55 set by Chandler Simpson of the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in 2021.
The series concludes tomorrow, Wednesday, July 30, with a 6:35 pm (CDT) first pitch at Carson Park.
