Kenosha, WI – The Kingfish and the Bucks combined for 23 runs on 20 hits on Monday afternoon as Kenosha snapped a five-game losing streak to beat the Bucks 12-11 in the rubber match of the series. 

Waterloo opened with offense in the top of the first inning. After Collin Brightwell worked a walk, then stole second, Zach Davis lasered a single to left to plate the run to put the Bucks in front, 1-0. 

In the bottom of the first, Kenosha tied things up. JR Nelson led off the frame with a walk, then scored later in the inning on a sacrifice fly to even the score at 1-1. 

In the top of the second, Waterloo jumped ahead. Jake Miller walked, then stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch to grab the lead back 2-1. A Davis RBI single made it 3-1. With runners on the corners and one out, Davis scored on a fielder’s choice to push the lead to 4-1. After a run crossed on a wild pitch, the lead grew to 5-1. 

In the bottom of the second, the Kingfish responded. A walk, a single, and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. Cole Ide scored on a sac fly to chip away at the lead, 5-2. A groundout plated another run to make it 5-3. A two out Noah Brandt RBI single that was stung to right brought home the run to cut the lead to one, 5-4. 

In the top of the third, the Bucks scraped across one more with a Miller single that scored on a fielding error that gave Waterloo some breathing room 6-4. 

In the top of the fourth, the Bucks pulled ahead. MJ Sweeney was hit by a pitch to lead off, then Caleb Parker followed with an infield single. Next up, Caleb Seibers poked a single to left to load the bases. One batter later, Kendric Sorgius reached on an error that allowed Sweeney and Parker to score to make it 7-4. Next up, Miller singled to plate Sorgius to make it 8-4. Finally, Dosztan-Campbell grounded out to bring in a run and extend the lead to 9-4. 

In the last of the fourth, Keosha sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs on an Ethan Sanchez single, JR Nelson double, Noah Brandt single, and a Brendan Fritch sac fly that chiseled the lead down to 9-8. 

In the fifth, the Kingfish tied the game. Sanchez doubled and Nelson singled him home to knot it up at nine apiece. 

In the top of the sixth, the Bucks jumped ahead with three walks to load the bases, then a run scored on a wild pitch to whisk Waterloo up 10-9. Then, an RBI groundout from Dozstan-Campbell lugged the lead to 11-9.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kenosha snatched the lead and the game from the Bucks with a bases-clearing double from Brian Gould that put the Kingfish in the lead for good, 12-11, and split the series. 

With the loss, Waterloo goes to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 on the road trip. The next stop for the Bucks is La Crosse. First pitch in the series with the Loggers is set for 6:35 PM. Both starters are TBD.
