After a 10-6 win last night, the Bucks came out hot again to help propel them to a 7-3 win over the Rochester Honkers.
The Bucks scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead. Jayden Kiernan added an RBI single in the fourth to put Waterloo up 4-0. In the fifth, Xane Washington hit a one-out double for Waterloo. Patrick Ferguson hit his pod-leading fifth home run of the season a batter later to put the Bucks up 6-0.
Oraj Anu would add some buffer with an RBI knock, his second of the game. With Waterloo up 7-0, Rochester scored on an RBI fielder’s choice in the sixth and back-to-back RBI base hits in the seventh to close the gap to 7-3. That score stayed and in the top of the ninth Rochester loaded the bases and put the tying run at the plate with two outs. Waterloo closer Zach Button got the final out and the Bucks win at home 7-3.
Ben Olson earned his first win of the season with five shutout innings. Charles Harrison took the loss with four and a third and five earned runs. Waterloo is back in action tomorrow in Willmar to start a three-game road trip with a game on Friday and a double-header on Saturday.
