The Waterloo Bucks went to Rochester for the back end of a home and home with the Rochester Honkers and the Bucks squeaked out an 8-7 win.

Rochester scored four runs in the first with a three-run home run from Bryce Matthews and a solo homer from shortstop Robert Moore. Waterloo countered in the top of the second with a three-run homer from Peyton Williams to make it 4-3, Rochester.

The Honkers would add three runs to go up 6-4 by the end of the third. Waterloo broke out of the deficit in the fifth with a two-run single from Cameron Thompson and an RBI base hit from Brett McCleary to put Waterloo up 7-6. The Bucks added a run in the seventh with a sac fly from Charley Hesse and went up 8-6.

In the eighth, Rochester loaded the bags and scored a run on RBI walk with one out, but a fielder’s choice and strikeout ended the inning. Zach Button would get the final four outs to earn the save.

Simon Graf picked up the win with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Waterloo. A.J. Campbell took the loss for Rochester. The Bucks are off the next two days before they start a weekend set against Mankato in Waterloo on Friday.
