Waterloo Bucks (13-6) righthander Duncan Davitt worked a fantastic outing in his third start of the year but the Bucks’ bats went cold in a 4-2 road loss to the Willmar Stingers (10-9) on Saturday. Davitt struck out nine, scattering seven hits and three walks while allowing just two earned. He piled up 18 swinging strikes on 99 pitches for an 18.2% whiff rate.

The Bucks opened the scoring in the first as Paul Steffensen (1-for-3, 2 BB, R) drew a walk, then a Garrett McGowan (2-for-5) single with an error moved him up to third. Emi Gonzalez (0-for-4, BB) took ball four then Max Jung-Goldberg (1-for-4, R, RBI) brought home Steffensen with an RBI groundout.

Jung-Goldberg rapped a one-out single in the third and moved to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Cameron Repetti (2-for-3, BB, RBI) grounded a single up the middle that plated Jung-Goldberg thanks to a tremendous slide around the catcher’s tag.

Cameron Hagan impressed in relief for the Bucks, tossing 2.0 scoreless with five strikeouts.

The Bucks and Willmar wrap up their series on Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. CST first pitch at Bill Taunton Stadium.
