The Waterloo Bucks (28-19, 5-8) received a brilliant start from Brycen Mautz but fell 2-0 at the hands of the St. Cloud Rox (34-12, 10-4) in their final game prior to the All-Star Break on Sunday evening. Waterloo went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and had a man reach second base with less than two outs just twice in the game.

Mautz fired 7.0 stellar frames of two-run ball for the Bucks, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out five batters. The lefthander racked up 11 whiffs on 85 pitches while keeping the ball on the ground at a 52.6% clip. Decker Stedman dealt the final 2.0 innings, allowing just one baserunner on a single while punching out one.

Johnny Tincher (1-for-4), Liam Critchett (1-for-3, HBP), Mike Campagna (1-for-3, HBP), Ryan McNally (1-for-2, 2 HBP, SB) and Garrett McGowan (1-for-1) each singled to account for the Bucks’ five hits.

Waterloo’s McGowan, Ryan Duffy and Max Jung-Goldberg participate in the All-Star Game in Mankato on Tuesday while the former will represent the Bucks in the Home Run Challenge on Monday evening. The Bucks return to action on the road this Thursday, July 22 in St. Cloud with a 7:05 p.m. CST first pitch.
