Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks and Eau Claire Express played a seven-inning doubleheader today at Riverfront Stadium, with the Express winning game one and the Bucks winning game two. Both teams remain tied for fourth in the Great Plains East second-half standings.
Game One: Eau Claire answered first with a sacrifice fly from Ethan Farris in the first inning, but the Bucks would answer back by scoring three runs over the first two innings from a two-run single from Marcus Heusohn (Bottom 1st), and a Larry Edwards Jr sacrifice fly (Bottom 2nd). Eau Claire scored in every inning except the second, including a big eight-run third as they kept the lead and won 18-3.
Game Two: The Bucks had two big innings of their own in the third and fourth by scoring a combined 12 runs and that’s all the Bucks needed offensively. An amazing outing from the new addition to the rotation, Trey Castile, allowed the Bucks to play the first four innings of the game with only three hits allowed. The Bucks scored their 12 runs mainly off the base on balls and hit by pitch, but got five hits in the victory.
Waterloo is back home for one more game against Eau Claire before taking the trip to Eau Claire on Tuesday. The first pitch of Monday’s, July 15th, game is set for 6:35 PM.
