Thunder Bay, ON – The Bucks set a season high in runs scored with 16, hits with 19, and they crushed the Border Cats 16-3 in game one of the split doubleheader. 

After scoring first in the first game of the series, Waterloo sent 11 hitters to the plate and scored six runs in the top of the first inning in game two. Mycah Jordan led off with a single, then came in to score after Caleb Parker doubled and there was a fielding error to put the Bucks ahead 1-0. Next up, Mitchell Iliff laced a single to left to plate Parker to make it 2-0. Two walks loaded the bases for Dane Most, who singled to move everyone up 90 feet to make it 3-0. A fielder’s choice brought in another run to grow the lead to 4-0, then a hit by pitch loaded the bases a second time. One batter later, Collin Brightwell pulled a single to right that brought in a pair of runs to make it 6-0. 

In the top of the second, Waterloo tallied another run. Nico Newhan doubled with one out, then after a single, Most lifted a sac fly to the second baseman, and Newhan scampered home to score. 

After the Border Cats put three runs on the board, the Bucks responded in a big way in the top of the fifth inning. A walk and a single put two on for Jordan who ripped a double down the third base line to bring home both runners to make it 9-3. 

In the top of the sixth, Waterloo put the game out of reach with seven runs to make the lead 16-3, the score that would be the final. 

With the win, the Bucks go to 10-12 on the season and 2-2 in 2026 against the Border Cats. Game two of the doubleheader is slated for 6:35 pm EST. Cade Nolan is on the bump for Waterloo opposite Makaio Cisneros.
