
Waterloo, IA – The Bucks mash three home runs off the bat of Dane Most, Mycah Jordan, and MJ Sweeney to power Waterloo to a 10-3 win over Rochester in game one of the series.
After scoring three runs on Saturday, Rochester came out swinging in the top of the third inning Sunday afternoon. Jackson Norum worked a leadoff walk, then moved up to third on a Sam Harry single. One batter later, Matt McDonald chopped a bounding ball to the outfield to bring Norum in to put the Honkers ahead 1-0. Next up, Jackson Glueck ripped a single to right to plate Harry to grow the lead to 2-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Waterloo answered back. Mycah Jordan singled with one out, then moved up to second on a wild pitch. After tagging to third, Jordan scored on a Zach Davis infield single to chisel the lead to 2-1. After Davis moved to second on a wild pitch, Caleb Parker laced a single up the middle to score Davis and even the tally, 2-2.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bucks took the lead on a Dane Most solo shot to left to launch Waterloo on top 3-2.
In the top of the fifth, the Honkers responded. Harry reached on a fielder’s choice, then stole second before Glueck roped a single to center to bring Harry home to level the score 3-3.
In the last of the fifth, Waterloo took the lead for good. Jordan led off with a longball to left to spring the Bucks in front, 4-3. With one out, Davis singled before Parker reached on an error and MJ Sweeney walked. With the bases loaded, Most smacked a single to left to bring in a pair to extend the advantage to 6-3.
Waterloo later added four more runs to their total, two of which came on a Sweeney opposite field two-run home run to left as the Bucks ran away late to take game one 10-3.
With the win, Waterloo goes to 14-19 on the season and 2-5 against the Honkers. The Bucks go for the sweep of Rochester in the final game of the first half of the 2026 season Monday night at 6:35 pm. Chris Petersen is set to start for Waterloo opposite Riley Leatherman of the Honkers.
