Waterloo, Iowa – The Waterloo Bucks have announced they will host seven high school baseball tournaments at Riverfront Stadium over the course of the summer, all in conjunction with the presenting sponsor Hawkeye Community College. Each tournament will be for varsity level high school baseball teams.
The Cedar Valley Classic presented by Hawkeye Community College will take place May 27. That tourney begins at 2:00 pm with Cedar Falls H.S. facing Sioux City North H.S., followed up by Sioux City North taking on MFL MarMac H.S. at 4:00 pm. The third game of this round-robin event is slated for 6:00 pm with Cedar Falls facing MFL MarMac.
The High School Showcase presented by Hawkeye Community College will occur on May 28, starting at 11:00 am. Play will begin with Louisa-Muscatine H.S. facing St. Ansgar H.S., followed up by a 1:00 pm tilt between Dike-New Hartford H.S. and Louisa-Muscatine. The third game of this round-robin event is slated for 3:00 pm with Dike-New Hartford facing St. Ansgar.
The Waterloo First Pitch Tournament presented by Hawkeye Community College will be held on May 30. That tournament begins at 9:00 am with Don Bosco H.S. facing Independence H.S., followed up by Bettendorf H.S. taking on Newman Catholic H.S. at 11:00 am. The consolation game is slated for 1:00 pm with the championship starting at 3:00 pm.
On June 10, Riverfront Stadium hosts the Waterloo Bucks Baseball Invitational presented by Hawkeye Community College beginning at 11:00 am. Play will begin with Humboldt H.S. facing Lisbon H.S., followed up by a 3:00 pm tilt between Denison-Schleswig H.S. and Grundy Center H.S. The consolation game is slated for 3:00 pm with the championship starting at 5:00 pm.
The Waterloo Diamond Dreams Classic presented by Hawkeye Community College is scheduled for June 11. That tournament begins at 11:00 am with Denver H.S. facing Western Dubuque H.S., followed up by English Valley H.S. taking on MFL MarMac H.S. at 1:00 pm. The consolation game is slated for 3:00 pm with the championship starting at 5:00 pm.
The Waterloo Bucks Baseball Bash presented by Hawkeye Community College will take place June 24. That tourney begins at 11:00 am with Davenport North H.S. facing Eagle Grove H.S., followed up by Mt. Pleasant taking on Wayne H.S. at 1:00 pm. The consolation game is slated for 3:00 pm with the championship contest scheduled for a 5:00 pm start.
The Riverfront Stadium Diamond Classic presented by Hawkeye Community College will be held on June 25. That tournament begins at 11:00 am with North Linn H.S. facing Starmont H.S., followed up by Clayton Ridge H.S. taking on Northeast H.S. at 1:00 pm. The consolation game is slated for 3:00 pm with the championship starting at 5:00 pm.
In addition to these seven tournaments, Riverfront Stadium will play host to four high school doubleheaders throughout the summer. On May 23, the Waterloo Bucks Preseason Classic presented by Hawkeye Community College will feature Edgewood-Colesburg H.S. facing Oelwein H.S. with the first game starting at 3:00 pm. June 21 will see Marion H.S. face Waverly-Shell Rock H.S. at 5:30. North Butler H.S. will play North Tama H.S. at 5:30 pm on July 6. Finally, Janesville H.S. and Wapsie Valley H.S. will tangle on July 8 at 5:30 pm.
Hawkeye Community College, located in Waterloo, Iowa, offers more than 45 one-year and two-year programs for credit classes along with Business and Community Education classes. With approximately 5,300 students attending classes, HCC provides specialized training geared toward business and industry along with classes for high school students during their junior and senior years so they may attain college credits early.
The Bucks play at Riverfront Stadium where the team welcomed a new state of the art video board in 2016 thanks to a matching grant from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association. Team ownership has invested more than $170,000 in improvements since the end of the 2014 season including painted bleachers, public Wi-Fi, sound system, group outing areas, and concessions equipment.
