WATERLOO, IOWA- The Mankato MoonDogs (5-4) scored in the third and eighth innings while pitching well on the mound to defeat the Waterloo Bucks (6-3) on Wednesday night (June 7). The loss snaps Waterloo's five game winning streak as the Bucks move into second place in the Northwoods League North Division standings.

No score after two innings until Zac Wiley lined a shot back to the mound that hit off the Waterloo starting pitcher Nathan Walker (1-1) and ricocheted into left field plating the first two runs of the game.

The Bucks didn't have an answer until the bottom of the fifth inning when a groundout to second baseman by Keaton Presley was good enough to get Waterloo on the board trailing 2-1. MoonDog starting pitcher Tyler Lesley (2-0) was effective all night striking out five batters and only allowing the lone run.

The score remained 2-1 until the top of the eigth inning when the MoonDogs cashed in with two outs thanks a two-run single to center by Kenton Crews and an RBI bloop single to center from Alvaro Rubalcaba.

Mankato took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning and the Bucks put a runner on at first base but Grant Hawkins grounded into a game-ending double play.

The Bucks conclude the four-game home stand by wrapping up a two-game series against the Mankato Moondogs at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow, June 8 on 70's Throwback Thursday presented by Miller High Life.
