ROCHESTER, MN- The Rochester Honkers (19-21) overcame a three run deficit and held off a ninth inning comeback in a 6-4 win over the Waterloo Bucks (27-14) on Sunday, July 9.

The Bucks got off to a great start in the top of the first inning on a pair of RBI singles by Tyler Stover and Charlie Concannon.

Waterloo added onto the 2-0 advantage on a Drew Greenwood RBI sac-fly to left field in the top of the fifth.

Rochester had an answer in the bottom of the sixth when an error by the shortstop Deion Thompson helped a run score and a wild pitch from reliever Nathan Walker trimmed the Bucks lead down to 3-2 after six innings.

The big blow was in the bottom of the seventh inning on when Tyler Booth (0-1) walked in a run with the bases loaded and then Ethan Ibarra tied the game with an RBI single placed to right center. A couple batters later, Chris Ceballos delivered a two-run single making it 6-3 Rochester after seven innings.

Joe Wills (1-0) tossed three scoreless inning in relief and handed the game off to Garrett Cobb (7) who made things interesting by walking four batters in the top of the ninth as the Bucks got a run back. Zach Malis lined a ball hard to right field with the bases loaded but Jordan Hart made the catch to end the game.

The Bucks get a rematch with the Honkers tomorrow night, July 10 at 6:35 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium on Summertime St. Paddy's Day.
