EAU CLAIRE, WI- The Waterloo Bucks (28-16) held off a late Eau Claire Express (19-25) rally to pick up a 6-5 win while snapping a three game losing skid.

After getting shut out for the first time all season the game before, the Bucks wasted no time to score on an RBI groundout by Tyler Stover. An error by the Express second baseman Scott Ogrin allowed another run to cross as the Bucks had an early 2-0 advantage.

With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, a wild pitch brought around the first Express run of the night cutting the slim deficit in half 2-1.

The Bucks rattled off six consecutive hits in the top of the third inning including a two-run single by Charlie Concannon and a Drew Greenwood RBI single. Drew Gillespie (1-3) lasted four innings after getting knocked around in his first three innings of work.

Rudy Rott belted a solo homer over the right field fence in the bottom of the fourth making the score 5-2 in favor of the Bucks.

At the plate, Zach Malis went 4-5 including an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning pushing the Bucks lead back to four runs.

Slowly but surely the Express started to chip away at the deficit and Jared Crescentini (4-2) left the game with the Bucks in front 6-4. Brandon Downey set down Eau Claire in order in the bottom of the eighth but Zach Gilles smacked a leadoff triple in the bottom of the ninth causing Tyler Booth (1) to come in out of the bullpen. Gilles scored on an RBI groundout by Zach Ashford but Booth closed the door on any other Express threat helping the Bucks earn a key road win.

The Bucks wrap up the three game road swing tomorrow, July 13 at Mayo Field against the Rochester Honkers at 7:05 p.m.
