WATERLOO, IOWA- The Waterloo Bucks (29-22) snap a six-game losing skid after a 9-4 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats (18-31) at Riverfront Stadium on Saturday, July 22.

Brandon Gutzler began the scoring with an RBI single rolled through the left side of the infield in the bottom of the first inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, Drew Greenwood added an RBI sac-fly to center field and Deion Thompson doubled to right center making it 3-0 Bucks after the two innings of play. Brandon Williamson (0-6) would fall into an even deeper hole on the mound for Thunder Bay.

The Bucks broke the game open in the bottom of the third by scoring first on an error folowed by RBI singles from Grant Hawkins, Dalton Hurd and Charlie Concannon. Greenwood tacked on another RBI sac-fly as the Waterloo advantage grew to as large as 8-0 after four innings.

Anthony Ruden (4-1) only surrendered two runs in seven innings of work while striking out two batters.

Thunder Bay loaded up the bases in the top of the eighth off of Bucks reliver Matt Whalen while bringing across runs on a walk by Braden Mosley and an RBI single by Jean-Francois Garon trimming the advantage to 8-4.

Ultimately, the Bucks hung on to move back into the win column and finish up the two-game homestand against Thunder Bay tomorrow, July 23 at 2:05 p.m.
