The Larks dropped their sixth straight game on Sunday afternoon. The Mankato MoonDogs defeated the Larks 7-3 presented by BNC.
Larks starter Ryan Carmack gave the Larks a chance to win. The righty went four innings allowing just one earned run and recorded six strikeouts. He turned in one of his best starts in his last couple outings and continued to show progress on the mound. His fastball was smooth, hitting 91 on the gun for the Metro-Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch.
For the second straight game, MoonDogs saw some timely hitting pouncing on the Larks defensive miscues. Larks’ defense committed three errors and two of which came in to score to help the MoonDogs to the win. The MoonDogs collected 12 hits on the afternoon and also received an incredible start from starter Blake Reilly. Reilly went six innings allowing just one run on three hits. He kept Larks hitters guessing with his breaking ball, which led him to record six strikeouts.
Despite the loss, Larks made the Fetzer Electric Play of The Game when their middle infield of second baseman, Ethan Kleinheider, and shortstop, Cole Roberts, turned a 4-6-3 double play in the eighth to try to give their team a chance to comeback in the final two innings.
Seth Brewer looks to snap the Larks losing streak as he takes the ball for the fourth and final game of the series on Monday against the MoonDogs for a 6:35 first pitch presented by MOJO BIG RIG.
