“You’re Checking What?” Larks Announce Free Prostate Cancer Screenings at the Ballpark

Yes, really.

In a move that will have fans doing a double take, the Bismarck Larks are proud (and slightly amused) to announce something that sounds like an April Fool’s Day prank, but absolutely is not:

On Thursday, June 19, the Larks will offer free prostate cancer screenings at the ballpark during Stronger Than Cancer Night, a game presented by Bismarck Cancer Center.

Go ahead. Read that again.

“Our goal is simple: we’re partnering with Bismarck Cancer Center to kick prostate cancer’s butt,” Rob Williamson, Larks team president, said. “If we can get your attention to save lives and get a few laughs along the way, that’s even better.”

Why This Matters (Beyond the Punchline)
Prostate cancer is no laughing matter:

  • About 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
  • It’s the second-leading cause of cancer death among men in the U.S.
  • Patients have an excellent survival rate when caught in its earliest stages

Bottom line: Catching it early can be a game-changer.

What to Expect on June 19 for Stronger Than Cancer Night
The Larks will kick off Father’s Day weekend with a game on Friday, June 19, against the St. Cloud Rox. This game will feature:

  • Special light blue jerseys worn by Larks players in support of prostate cancer awareness and auctioned off after the game to support the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation
  • Free prostate cancer screenings available at the ballpark
  • Recognition of cancer survivors, and a moment for fans to stand up against cancer
  • A powerful night dedicated to raising awareness, starting conversations, and saving lives

Let’s Clear This Up (Because We Know You’re Wondering)
We’re not afraid to offer free prostate cancer screenings at the ballpark. We know most men attending the game will have done harder things in their life. But relax, it’s not that kind of test.

Prostate cancer screenings are just a simple blood test.

That’s it. No awkward exam. No reason to avoid it. No punchline necessary.

The Prostate-Specific Antigen test (or PSA) is a blood test that detects a protein produced by both cancerous and non-cancerous tissue in the prostate. The detection of high PSA levels may indicate the presence of prostate cancer, although other factors may also contribute.

As families prepare to celebrate Father’s Day this summer, the Larks and Bismarck Cancer Center are joining forces to challenge dads, grandpas, brothers, coaches, and friends to step up to the plate for their health.

Ticket Information
Only bleacher seats are available to Stronger Than Cancer Night on June 19. Tickets will go on sale two weeks before the game. The Larks are looking for cancer survivors to celebrate at the game.
