It was fun for the WHOLE flock on Saturday, when the Bismarck Larks defeated the Rochester Honkers, 5-4 in a thrilling win. The game was presented by MDU Resources Group and North Dakota Gateway to Science.
Seth Brewer was excellent and back to his usual self in front of the big Saturday crowd — the fifth sellout in a row with 1,910 fans in the ballpark. The 2021 Northwoods League All-Star went seven innings allowing just five hits and three runs. Brewer’s seven innings matches his season-high. In addition to the ability to work deep into the game, Brewer racked up six K’s to pull him to a team-leading, 48 strikeouts.
The righty used his fastball to set up his great slider. Brewer hit 93 mph on the gun for the Metro-Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch. Rochester hitters couldn’t catch up to the heat.
Cal James made the Fetzer Electric Play of The Game when he robbed Honkers’ center fielder, Alex Pimentel, from a single. James dove to his left on a rocket off the bat to make the play — a representative defensive play — of a key part in the Larks win.
The Larks close out their four-game homestand on Sunday when they play the Honkers for a 4:05 PM first pitch. Sunday’s BNC National Bank Family Fun Day will conclude the season series between the two teams.
