All-Star Program honors 12 outstanding students and their STEM focused accomplishments

BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Larks, MDU Resources, and Gateway to Science have teamed up to recognize and reward students who have excelled in the subjects of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  Teachers nominated students who had demonstrated hard work and dedication in and out of the classroom.  Twelve STEM All-Stars were selected from different area schools and ranging from early elementary students to high school seniors.

The students selected as the 2017 STEM All-Stars are:

Tate Beckler (10th Grade) – Bismarck High School

Taylor Christensen (6th Grade) – Glen Ullin Public School

Caden Eckroth (5th Grade) – Robert Miller Elementary School

Zackary Hagel (4th Grade) – Hazen Public School

Jake Havelka (6th Grade) – Wachter Middle School

Ryker Klein (1st Grade) – Highland Acres Elementary School

Taylor Johnson (12th Grade) – Bismarck Century High School

Nickolaus Mathern (8th Grade) – Simle Middle School

Quinn Neset (1st Grade) – Centennial Elementary School

Ben Satrom (5th Grade) – Liberty Elementary School

Zachary Strombeck (11th Grade) – Bismarck High School

Marin Traynor (6th Grade) – Wachter Middle School

Each STEM All-Star will receive a one-of-a-kind experience at a Larks game this summer.  The prize package for each STEM All-Star includes gifts such as a Larks jersey, tickets to the game, an opportunity to throw out the first pitch, and a chance to meet the Larks players & coaches.

Gateway to Science is also pleased to provide a student membership for each STEM All-Star to inspire them to continue their discovery of science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on experiences. From the original 12 STEM All-Stars, 5 STEM Superstars were selected who will receive their name on their jersey.

One lucky Superstar will receive a custom radio commercial while the other 4 Superstars will receive a story in the Larks game program, all explaining their projects and accomplishments in the areas of STEM. Any students that are interested in STEM will have an opportunity to visit with area businesses about the work they do and how it relates to the STEM subjects.

Join us on June 8th for the Larks 1st Annual STEM Education Night and Expo presented by MDU Resources. Fans wishing to purchase tickets can go to larkstickets.com and use the promo code SCIENCE. Each ticket holder will receive a ticket to the game & expo, a Larks hat, and a portion of each ticket is donated back to Gateway to Science to help provide fun & exciting STEM activities for students.

MDU Resources is excited to support the STEM All-Star program because it promotes our Bismarck-Mandan youth pursuing technical fields of study and may inspire them to consider a career in those areas.  MDU Resources wants to be involved in programs that contribute to preparing its future workforce.
