The Larks took game one of a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies in an absolute thriller, 7-6.
Bismarck had the lead for the first five innings of the ballgame after a four-run bottom of the third. After runs scored in the fourth and fifth, the Huskies put three notches on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth to take their first lead of the ballgame.
The Larks followed up with a two-run bottom of the seventh to tie the game at six, then claimed the final run of the ball game in the eighth.
Spencer Sarringar (Northern State) delivered two RBIs on the night, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Sarringar was one of two Larks to finish with multiple RBIs after Bradlee Preap (Radford) finished three-for-four with two RBIs.
The Larks saw multiple highlight plays at the plate and in the field, including a 5-2-3 double play with the bases loaded to keep a run off the board for Duluth. That being said, Spencer’s game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth was the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game.
Alec Danen (Viterbo University) got his first start at home for the Larks this summer and dealt four innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run. Danen also struck out four Huskies tonight.
The Larks saw a great performance out of right-handed pitcher Justin Goldstein (Middle Tennessee State). Goldstein delivered the final six outs, struck out four of the six batters he saw, and got his first save of the season. Goldstein also finished with the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch of the Game at 94 mph.
The Larks are back in action tomorrow night for the series and season finale versus the Duluth Huskies at 7:05 pm CT. You can watch the game on ESPN+, the exclusive streaming partner of the Northwoods League.
