The La Crosse Loggers scored four runs over the final two innings to pull away from the Bismarck Larks on Saturday night in a 8-5 win.

The scoring began in the 4th inning. The Loggers posted two runs in the 4th inning off of four hits and a walk. The Larks had the response in the bottom half of the inning. Three straight singles loaded the bases. Jan Avila drove in a run on a base hit, and Will Millard hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game up at four.

The fifth inning was just as eventful. Ryan Costello drove in a run on a base hit, and Mateo Grey added a sacrifice fly, as the Loggers took a 4-2 lead. The Larks would match that number in the bottom of the inning. Sydney Ward hit a ground rule double, and Frankie Santiago brought home a run on a ground ball to second.

In the 8th inning, Hunter Crain walked two men before giving up an RBI single to Mikey Ryan III. It was a three-run ninth that would give the Loggers some separation, as Kanon Sundgren’s two-run double gave the Loggers an 8-4 lead. The Larks responded with a run in the 9th, but it was not enough.

The Loggers improved to 4-2 on the season, and the Larks fell to 2-4. The Larks have two series remaining in their home stand, one against the St. Cloud Rox, and one against the Minot Hot Tots. The Larks take on the Rox tomorrow, June 1st, at 5:05 p.m. at Municipal Ballpark.
