OPPORTUNITIES

The Lark’s Community FUNd will provide up to eight scholarship opportunities for students entering Higher Education.
Students are asked to limit applications to one of the eight categories of eligibility.

CRITERIA & IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • A Bismarck, Mandan, or surrounding community high school student who has committed to playing baseball or softball at a college or university and is seeking financial assistance towards next year’s tuition.
  • A Bismarck, Mandan, or surrounding community student heading to a higher education institution to pursue a career in sports management or a sports-related field is seeking financial assistance towards next year’s tuition.
  • A current softball player for the University of Mary who needs financial assistance towards the following year’s tuition and who exemplifies the values of athletic excellence, exemplary character, great teamwork, and overall use of FUN to make a difference on their team, campus, and community.
  • A current baseball player for the University of Mary who needs financial assistance towards the following year’s tuition and who exemplifies the values of athletic excellence, exemplary character, great teamwork, and overall use of FUN to make a difference on their team, campus, and community.
  • A current softball player for Bismarck State College who needs financial assistance towards the following year’s tuition and who exemplifies the values of athletic excellence, exemplary character, great teamwork, and overall use of FUN to make a difference on their team, campus, and community.
  • A current baseball player for Bismarck State College who needs financial assistance towards the following year’s tuition and who exemplifies the values of athletic excellence, exemplary character, great teamwork, and overall uses FUN to make a difference on their team, campus, and community.
  • The Bismarck Lark who wins the annual Lark of the Year Award. The fans and front office vote on the Lark of the Year Award for the Larks player who exemplifies the value of athletic excellence, exemplary character, great teamwork, and overall use of FUN to make a difference on their team, the fans, and the Bismarck/Mandan community.
  • A previous or current Bismarck Larks intern who best exemplifies living the Larks values of BUNT (being the Best, Uplifting others, having the Nerve to challenge the status quo, and Teamwork) and needs financial assistance towards the following year’s tuition.
  • Students must have applied to either a four-year accredited college or university or a two-year technical/vocational college to receive this scholarship.
  • Choose one of the eight scholarship categories on the application form that best suits your candidacy before submitting your entry.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Photos and other material relevant to the student’s application as well as a typed essay are welcome to tell our panel of judges more about your candidacy.
  • Applications must be submitted online between Jan 1 and July 1 for each upcoming school year.  
  • All applications will be reviewed by the Executive Director to make sure they are complete and meet the criteria.
  • Final decisions of scholarship winners will be done by the Larks Community FUNd Board of Directors.
  • The scholarship winners will receive their grant during an on-field presentation experience during a Bismarck Larks Baseball Game that will be held at the Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field in Bismarck, ND. The exact game date will be provided to the recipient when they are notified they have been selected to receive a scholarship. 
  • All scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a photo and short testimonial for the Larks Community FUNd to use for future program promotional purposes. By continuing to complete the application process and applying for this scholarship grant, permission to use these items for marketing and promotional purposes is considered to be granted.
