THE GOOD FAMILY
LARKS HOST FAMILY SINCE 2022
The Good’s love baseball and love the Larks. They are one of our host families this season, they’re hosting infielder Aaron Mann from Drury University. We had the pleasure to talk with their family and ask them some questions about how great it’s been being a host family.
WHAT ABOUT BEING A HOST FAMILY IS DIFFERENT THAN JUST BEING A REGULAR FAN?
“Before we’d only go to 7-pack games but now we get to go to as many home games as we can make it to. It’s way more baseball and way more fun. We also get to hear some of the cool dugout stories,” Ethan said.
“It gives you a particular player who you’re rooting for like a parent because we know him off the field. The other day I was walking downstairs and heard that Aaron hit a home run and I got really excited and had to rewind the TV back so the family could see Aaron’s big hit,” Jamie said.
“We’ve had the pleasure of learning Aaron’s journey of how he made it to the Larks and all the work that he’s put in during his career. Makes you an even bigger fan than we were before,” Erin Good said.
WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE EXPERIENCES BEING A HOST FAMILY?
“The first week Aaron [Mann] was here we played a game of kickball. It was Aaron and I vs. Patrick and Dad. Aaron and I ended up winning,” Ethan said.
WHAT IS SOMETHING ETHAN AND PATRICK DO EVERY WEEK WITH AARON?
We watch the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus together once a week when the episodes come out. It’s been fun doing that together,” Ethan said.
HOW DOES ALICIA UHDE, LARKS HOST FAMILY COORDINATOR HELP WITH THE TRANSITION OF PLAYERS JOINING HOST FAMILIES?
Alicia [Uhde] does a great job matching families with players. We felt like from the beginning, Aaron was a perfect fit for us. Aaron was an Eagle Scout and both of our boys are Cub Scouts. They all share a love for baseball and other commonalities that made it easy to have him be a part of our family,” Erin said.
HOW HAS IT BEEN HAVING SOMEONE FROM ANOTHER PART OF THE COUNTRY STAY WITH YOU?
It was pretty cool to hear that Aaron went to Central High School, which is the same school the Little Rock Nine went to. Also, Aaron will experience Costco for his first time ever with the Good’s this summer. Aaron is from Arkansas, the state where Walmart originated and their headquarters are at, so he doesn’t have a Costco back home. We’re very excited to show Aaron all the samples Costco has,” Patrick said.
