Listi launches home run but Eau Claire falls short to Alexandria
Scoring 3 runs in the first two innings wasn’t enough as the Eau Claire Express dropped game 2 to the Alexandria Blue Anchors Tuesday night by a score of 9-5.
Emmanuel Castellano started on the mound for Eau Claire and gave up 8 runs however only 4 of them were earned. He gave up a 3 run home run in both the third and fifth innings, which proved to be the difference maker in the game.
Austin Listi had a solid day at the plate going 2-4 including a 2 run home run in the first inning to put the Express on top first.
Daulton Varsho contributed as well adding 2 hits on the night.
Down 5 entering the ninth, the Express couldn't match their ninth inning magic from Monday night twice in a row only mustering 1 run before recording three outs.
Eau Claire is now 1-1 on the road trip as they next head up to Thunder Bay to face the Border Cats. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
Listen to all games live on Mix 98.1 radio and online. The Express return home on June 7 to take on the first place Waterloo Bucks. That game at Carson Park is sponsored by Regis Catholic Schools where the first 250 fans in attendance will recieve a free baseball pen.
