Eau Claire, WI – The Express took down the MoonDogs in dramatic fashion on Monday night, winning 4-3 in 10 innings. The winning run came on a throwing error from pitcher Tyson Neighbors (Kansas State) after Neighbors tried to throw out Cadyn Schwabe (North Dakota State) at third and sent the ball into left field, allowing Schwabe to cross the plate.
It was a close game throughout, with the Express taking a three-run lead in the 4th and the MoonDogs climbing back to tie things up thanks to a solo homer by Sean Ross (Indiana State). The Express received some clutch relief outings by Matt Helwig (Lewis) and Trevyn Badger (Minot State) who threw scoreless 9th and 10th innings, respectively.
There wasn’t much to talk about with the Express offense, but Ben Taxdahl (St. Thomas) had a two-RBI single and Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) added three singles for his first hits with Eau Claire.
The Express will return for game three of the seven-game home stand when they take on the Bismarck Larks at 6:35 CT.
