Conyers Shuts Down Honkers
Aaron Conyers (Sacramento City College) led Brainerd to victory Thursday night against the Rochester Honkers. The 6'0'' lefty from California improved his record to 4-1 on the season in five games started. Conyers threw 7.1 innings and allowed six hits against the Honkers who are now 9-18. The Lunkers improve to 16-9 with the nice performance from Conyers.

Briner Brilliant in Start
Tom Briner (UC-Davis) was impressive in his start against the Madison Mallards Tuesday night. The 6'2'' right-handed pitcher threw 6.0 innings of three hit baseball to take down the Mallards. Briner is now 2-0 in 2011 in three starts and has a 0.56 earned run average in 16.0 innings pitched.

Blake Schwartz (Mankato State) had the best pitching performance on the 2011 NWL season on Monday night. The 6'3'' righty from Rosemount, MN threw a complete game two hitter against the Thunder Bay Border Cats at Franklin Rogers Park. Schwartz is now 3-0 in 2011 with the MoonDogs in five games. He has 32.2 innings pitched and an impressive 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Kye Winter (Augustana) picked up his 2nd win of the 2011 season on the mound Sunday afternoon against the Rochester Honkers. Winter, a right-handed pitcher from Willow Lake, SD, only allowed three hits in 7.0 innings of work. The hard throwing righty is now 2-0 in 25.0 innings pitched and boasts a 1.80 earned run average.

Matt Dearden (Indiana) picked up his 3rd win of the season for the Battle Creek Bombers Saturday night. The 5'11'' right-handed pitcher threw 7.0 innings of four hit baseball to register the win. Dearden is now 3-2 in 2011 in 28.0 innings pitched and has a 3.28 earned run average.

Tim Giel (Columbia) of the Green Bay Bullfrogs picked up his 3rd win of the season Friday night against the Wisconsin Woodchucks in a 3-1 win at Joannes Stadium. The 6'2'' right-handed pitcher is currently 3-1 in five games with a 1.52 earned run average. On Friday, Giel threw a three hitter in 7.0 innings of work while striking out four.
