Haig Dominant for Honkers
Phil Haig (Florida International) was dominant Saturday night for the Rochester Honkers as he threw a four hitter. Haig went 7.0 innings for the Honkers while only walking one batter. The 6’3’’ 205-pound pitcher shut down an Express offense that had scored six runs the night before. The win is the 3rd of the season for Haig in 11 appearances.
Jaramillo Throws Complete Game
Rudy Jaramillo of the Eau Claire Express shut down an explosive Honker offense Friday night in Eau Claire. The righty threw a complete game four hitter as the Express took game on of the Summer Collegiate World Series. Jaramillo was effective as he struck out seven Honkers to register his 4th win of the season.
McDaniel Throws Well for Express
Matthew McDaniel (San Diego State) helped lead the Eau Claire Express to the Summer Collegiate World Series. McDaniel, a 6’2’’ righty, threw a six hitter thru 6.2 innings while striking out two Woodchucks. McDaniel’s 8th win of the season helped the Express continue their season.
Campbell Calms ‘Chucks
Ian Campbell (Corpus Christi) calmed the Woodchucks bats Wednesday night in a game the Express needed to win to stay alive. Campbell only allowed four hits in 8.0 innings of work while striking out three ‘Chucks. The NWL Postseason All-Star now has eight wins on the season and gives the Express a chance to make it to the NWL Championship series with a win Thursday night at Carson Park.
Strong Win for Honkers
Lefty Mike Strong (Oklahoma State) out-dueled NWL Pitcher of the Year Jason Wheeler (Loyola Marymount) to earn the win for the Rochester Honkers. Strong threw 6.0 innings of four-hit, one-run baseball while striking out nine River Bats. The 6’1’’ 185-pound Stillwater, MN native now has six wins on the season in 65.0 innings pitched.
Beacom Mows Down Loggers
The Wisconsin Woodchuck tandem of Andrew Klausmeier and Mitchell Beacom pushed the ‘Chucks into the 2010 Playoffs. Beacom earned the save after throwing 3.0 innings in relief and only allowing one hit while striking out six Loggers. Beacom finished the regular season with a 1.08 ERA with six saves. Klausmeier also threw well and earned the win, his 5th of the season. The righty threw a two hitter threw 6.0 innings and struck out six in the win.
Haver Halts ‘Chucks
Jordan Haver had an impressive game on the mound Sunday night against a hot-hitting Wisconsin Woodchuck team. Haver, a righty, threw a complete game four hitter while earning his 4th win of the season. He struck out eight ‘Chucks batters while improving his ERA to 2.50. The Logger win over the Woodchucks kept the Madison Mallards playoff chances alive as they beat the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
Pappel Throws Gem for Thunder Bay
Corey Pappel (Cornell-NY) earned his 5th win of the season as he beat the Willmar Stingers 2-1 in Thunder Bay. Pappel threw a five hitter over 7.1 innings while striking out seven Stingers and only allowing one run. The 6’6’’ righty currently has a 3.63 ERA in 12 appearances.
Goldberg Throws Gem
Brad Goldberg (Coastal Carolina) of the Eau Claire Express earned his 3rd win of the season as he beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Goldberg threw a complete game five hitter while striking out six Rafters. The 6’4’’ 225-pound righty currently has a 3.97 ERA in 59 innings pitched. He has struck out 48 batters on the season while only walking 31.
Flemer Fans Eight Mallards
Matt Flemer (California Berkeley) earned a much needed win for the La Crosse Loggers Thursday night. Flemer threw 7.0 innings while giving up three runs and striking out eight. The 6’2’’ righty is now 8-2 in ten games started with a 2.05 ERA. Flemer leads the Loggers in innings pitched, wins, and strikeouts in 2010.
Schwartz Beats River Bats
Blake Schwartz (Minnesota State Mankato) earned his 5th win of the season as he threw a four hitter against the St. Cloud River Bats. Schwartz threw 7.1 innings and only allowed one earned run while striking out five River Bats. The 6’3’’ Rosemount, MN product is having a great year for the MoonDogs on the mound. He has a 3.05 ERA in 65.0 innings pitched while only walking 15 batters.
Campbell Earns Victory for Express
Ian Campbell (Corpus Christi) of the Eau Claire Express earned his 7th win of the season as he beat the Battle Creek Bombers Tuesday night. Campbell threw 7.0 innings of three hit baseball while striking out three batters. The 6’5’’ righty from Glendale, AZ has a 1.36 ERA in eight appearances on the year. Tim Verthein (Wisconsin La Crosse) of the St. Cloud River Bats also threw well as he earned the win against the Mankato MoonDogs.
