(Rochester, Minn)– The Rochester Honkers fell at Mankato tonight, Sunday June 21st, 7-5. Tyler Feyereisen (St. Thomas) was charged with his first loss of the season. Chris Butcher (Rio Hondo College) picked up the win for the MoonDogs, while Samuel Myers (Central Arizona) got the save.

The Honkers committed five errors in the game that led to two unearned runs for Mankato.

The recent trend of the Honkers falling behind early continued as Mankato took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second on Brinn Bell's (St. Ambrose) three-run homerun.

The Honkers rallied back quickly, scoring three runs in the second. William Paschal (Georgia Gwinnett) brought two runs in with his two-RBI single, and scored the tying run on an infield error by the MoonDogs.

Two runs by Mankato in the bottom of the second and one in the third gave the MoonDogs the lead at 6-3, and they would not relinquish that lead for the remainder of the game.

The Honkers mounted a comeback on a RBI double from Cole Krzmarzick (Nevada) in the fourth and a RBI single from Slade Heggen (Oregon) in the fifth that pulled Rochester within one, but Mankato plated one run for insurance in the sixth inning. The two-run lead held and the MoonDogs took the 7-5 win.

In the tight NWL North Division First Half race, the Honkers 14-11 record has them in a tie for third place with St. Cloud. Mankato (14-12) is in fifth, just a half game back from Rochester.
