MANKATO, MN – The Rochester Honkers blew a 4-0 lead as they lost 6-4 to the Mankato MoonDogs on Monday night at ISG Field.

Rochester started very fast in this game. They put up four runs on three hits in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead before the MoonDogs even came to bat. Brendan O’Sullivan (Delta College) drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single. Later in the inning Michael Brown (Washington) brought in two runs with an opposite field double and Kyle Whitaker (Patrick Henry CC) made it 4-0 with an RBI single.

However, Mankato quickly responded. They scored a run in the bottom of the first and three in the home half of the second to tie it up. From there, the scoring stopped until the bottom of the seventh. The MoonDogs scored two runs in the seventh to take their first lead of the game at 6-4.

In the top of the ninth the Honkers had Michael Brown at the plate representing the tying run but he couldn’t come through as he flew out to left field to end the ballgame.

With the loss the Honkers fall back under .500 in the second half at 14-15. They’ll look to split the series against Mankato tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from ISG Field.
