WATERLOO – The home-standing Waterloo Bucks forged six hits and plated a run in a 9-2 Northwoods League loss to La Crosse Tuesday night.

Waterloo (10-21) was led by center fielder Willie Argo (Illinois). Argo finished the night with three hits, including a double. He scored the lone run for the Blue, Gold, and White by being chased home by catcher Christian Griffiths’ (Stanford) single in the eighth.

La Crosse (20-12) received another night of strong starting pitching. Steve Gruver (Tennessee) went seven frames and surrendered only four hits. Offensively, catcher Robert Brantley (UC-Riverside) and left fielder Thomas Collins (Nebraska) who each ended with two hits.

This week’s home stand resumes Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against Alexandria. It’s Families First Counseling Services of Iowa and College Pots and Pans Night. Fans can listen to KCRR, 97.7 FM, Waterloo, for free tickets, while college students will receive admission for one dollar with an ID. Fans who bring a new or gently used item to donate to Goodwill Industries will also receive admission for one dollar.

Everyone is encouraged to bring pots and pans to the game as noise makers. Another promotion in the series opener against Alexandria is On Press Row Night with Gary Rima, the Sports Guy, giving away free tickets during his show tomorrow from 5-6 p.m. on KXEL, 1540 AM, Waterloo. The Mediacom Family Plan and Miller Lite Bucks Bottle Cap promotions are also in place with fans receiving four tickets, four hot dogs, four popcorns, four fountain sodas and a souvenir program for thirty dollars, while six Miller Lite bottle caps will result in a complimentary ticket and beer.
