BATTLE CREEK- The Waterloo Bucks were unable to get anything cooking Friday night despite a pair of doubles, as the Bombers’ defense downed them 3-1 in Battle Creek.

The Bucks scored first in the second inning on an Adrian Williams’ single to right field. But that would be all she wrote for the Bucks, no thanks to the strong Bomber defense. Outfielder Phil Keppler and third baseman Troy White would each crack a double during the game, but the Bucks were unable to capitalize on those hits. Willie Argo, Christian Griffiths, and Zach McCool each hit one during the game.

Pitcher Scott Williams started the game and threw for seven innings, with Matt Loomis and Lenny Linsky relieving him in the eighth. Williams took the loss for the night.

The Waterloo Bucks, who currently hold the third spot in the Southern Division standings, will return home Saturday for a 7:05 match-up with the Madison Mallard. Saturday is College Square Mall night, and tickets can be picked up at the mall. Its also Happy Hour from 5:30-6:30, featuring $2 draws. They stay at Riverfront Stadium until through Tuesday night.
