This week we are catching up with former Waterloo Bucks pitcher Matt Morgal. The Toronto Blue Jays drafted the Edmond, Oklahoma native in the 13th round of the 2009 amateur entry draft. Morgal was drafted 400th overall and is set to play in the Blue Jays farm league system.

Morgal finished his collegiate career at Southern Nazarene University. He had a great 2009 season at SNU, earning First Team All-SAC honors after finishing the year with a 10-2 record. Morgal had a record-breaking regular season, finishing with an SNU record 10 wins. He also set a new school mark in strikeouts, recording 131, breaking the old record of 107. Morgal finished with an ERA of 4.42 in 89.2 innings of work with only 38 walks. He also added six complete games in 13 starts and had one shutout. 
 

Morgal was a member of the Waterloo Bucks in ‘08 season. He pitched in 17 innings and had a 5.82 ERA during his ’08 season with the Bucks.
