Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (2-2) defeated Eau Claire Express (2-2) 9-3 at their home opener in the renovated Riverfront Stadium. Coming off their win against Battle Creek, the Bucks were clearly eager for another win.

Throughout the majority of the game, the Bucks had a small lead on the Eau Claire Express. However, in the seventh inning the Bucks scored five runs giving them a comfortable lead for the rest of the game that Eau Claire was not able to overtake. Andrew Ewing (Iowa) took the opportunity of to show off in front of the large home crowd by the Waterloo Bucks first home run of the seaon in the 8th inning.

Defensively, the Bucks were also on their game. The pitching crew had an impressive ten strikeouts. Eight of these strikeouts were by starting pitcher Chase Stevens (Seminole St.) who pitched six strong innings before being relieved in the seventh by Ben Cross (Clarke). The in-field was also able to make and impressive 4-6-3 in the six inning that shows the teams increasing confidence is working together defensively.

The Bucks will seek to continue their two game win streak when they play Eau Claire again Sunday, June 5 as game two of a three game series at home. The game begins at 3:05 PM with gates opening at 2:00 PM. Hope to see you at the stadium!
