Waterloo, IA- The Bucks fell in a tight game to the visiting Rox on Wednesday, falling by a score of 7-6. The Bucks outhit the visitors 13 to 11 but stranded six runners on base. The pitching was somewhat shaky for the Bucks as they were unable to hold on to any leads the bats gave them.  

The Bucks got the scoring started fast in the 1st inning. The first five Bucks batters singled and Thomas Lindauer, Benny Roberts, and Austin Barrett all scored runs to give them a 3-0 lead. The visitors came right back in the top of the 2nd, scoring three runs with the help of back-to-back triples.

In the 3rd inning, Davis Hendrickson made a diving catch with two outs to save at least one run from scoring. The Bucks were able to score two in the bottom of the inning with the first coming on the fifth home run of the year by Freddy Villalobos. Later in the inning, Jordan Adams singled to score Jason Hockemeyer and give the Bucks a 5-3 lead.

The Rox scored two more to tie the 4th inning to tie the game and then took the lead on a run in the 6th inning.

The blue and yellow would come back though and tie the game with a run in the 8th inning when Adams had another RBI single. The Bucks threatened in the inning but hit into a double play with and stranded runners at the corners.

The visitors scored a run in the top of 9th to take a one run lead and the Bucks were unable to respond. The top of the order was up for the Bucks but all three popped out to end the game.  

Jordan Foley got the start for the Bucks today and gave up six runs over five innings. He struck out four and walked three. Michael Edlefsen made his Northwoods league debut next and pitched a scoreless inning. He got some great help from Austin Barrett when the Mercer product gunned down his first of two runners on the night trying to steal second. Justin Grijalva came in and went 1.1 innings and gave up no runs on two hits. Connor Cline was the final Bucks pitcher and gave up one run, taking the loss on the night.

The Bucks wrap up the series with the Rox tomorrow night with a first pitch set for 6:35 pm. After that they will not be home again until August 2. Remember to check out waterloobucks.com for all your latest Bucks information.
