Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, members of the Northwoods League, have announced the hiring of Tony Manville as the team’s pitching coach for the 2013 season. Manville, who is currently the pitching coach at Robert Morris University in Chicago, Illinois, joins field manager Travis Kiewiet and coach Pat Casey on Waterloo’s coaching staff for the team’s 19th season of play.

As an athlete, Manville was a pitcher at both the University of Iowa and Northern Illinois University. Born March 29, 1989, Manville played for the Hawkeyes from 2008-2009 before transferring to NIU before the 2010 season. For the Huskies, Manville was an All-Mid-American Conference second team honoree in 2011 and was named to the 2012 All-MAC Pre-Season second team.

During his collegiate career, Manville played summer ball with the NWL’s Mank\"\"ato MoonDogs in 2009.  With Mankato, Manville went 2-2 with a 3.95 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 20 appearances.

“In order to have a successful season, a team needs to have not only good players, but good coaches as well, and having Tony join our staff as the pitching coach for the 2013 season will help us in trying to reach our goal of winning a Northwoods League championship,” said Kiewiet. “Tony, as a pitcher, has played four years of summer baseball and pitched in the NWL so he has first hand knowledge of what it takes to put together a successful summer campaign.  He also possesses a passion and commitment to the game that is needed to get through a 70 game schedule played in 75 days. I am very excited to have Tony on board and here in Waterloo this summer.”

A resident of New Lenox, Illinois, Manville attended Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago.  There, Manville was a two-time first team All-Conference honoree, finishing with a 27-8 career record with eight saves.

"I am extremely excited to be part of the coaching staff for the 2013 summer,” said Manville. “Waterloo is a great organization that gets tremendous fan support.  I am looking forward to a great summer with the Bucks."
The Bucks will open the 2013 season at home versus the St. Cloud Rox on May 29. Season tickets, group outings, and single-game tickets are currently on sale. For more information, call the Bucks’ Ticket Line at (319) 232-5633. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
