Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that infielder Zach McKinstry has signed to play with the team for the 2015 season. McKinstry, a freshman at Central Michigan University, is the 19th player to be named to Waterloo’s roster for the squad’s 21st season.
This season for the Chippewas, McKinstry is hitting .286 in 15 games. The 6’1”, 175-pounder has eight RBI and 16 hits in 56 at bats.
“Zach has a tremendously high ceiling,” said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin. “He will play middle infield for the team and expect him to hit the ball well and be a solid fielder. In my discussions with Central Michigan and former Bucks coach Jeff Opalewski, it sounds like we found a good one in Zach.”
Born April 29, 1995, McKinstry is a native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he attended North Side High School.
The Bucks, the winningest team in all of summer-collegiate baseball over the past two years, will open the 2015 season on the road versus the Alexandria Blue Anchors on May 26, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus the Mankato MoonDogs on May 28. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
