Waterloo, Iowa – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that Jared Shlensky has been hired as the Bucks’ Play-by-Play Announcer for the 2016 season. Shlensky will be the voice of the Bucks for all 72 regular season games, along with any post-season games, with broadcasts being streamed online through www.waterloobucks.com.
Shlensky joins the Bucks after completing a Broadcast & Media Relations Internship with the team's sister club, the Cedar Rapids Kernels, in 2015. In 2014, Shlensky was the Broadcast & Media Relations Intern for the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League.
“Jared is a terrific addition to the Bucks organization,” said Bucks Sales & Broadcasting Manager Morgan Hawk. “He is an experienced broadcaster and has a great work ethic. I was able to work with Jared last year in Cedar Rapids, and I’m excited for Bucks fans to hear Jared’s play-by-play skills on the broadcasts this season.”
Shlensky has worked as a Fill-In Update Anchor for WRJN News-Talk 1400 AM in Kenosha, Wis. and as a Correspondent for the Sun-Times Media Group. Shlensky graduated from North Central College in 2014 with a B.A. in Broadcast Communications.
"I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to be the Play-by-Play Broadcaster for a first class organization like the Waterloo Bucks,” said Shlensky. “The Cedar Rapids Ball Club Inc., Cedar Rapids Kernels and Waterloo Bucks have been extremely kind to me, and for that, I'm extremely thankful. I'd like to thank Morgan Hawk, General Manager Dan Corbin and the rest of the Bucks staff for giving me the privilege to be the team's broadcaster for this year."
The Bucks play at Riverfront Stadium where the team will welcome a new state of the art video board in 2016 thanks to a matching grant from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association. Team ownership has invested more than $170,000 in improvements since the end of the 2014 season including painted bleachers, public Wi-Fi, sound system, group outing areas, and concessions equipment. Season tickets and group outings are currently on sale by calling the Bucks’ Ticket Line at (319) 232-5633. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch during the off-season with the Bucks by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com or utilizing the Waterloo Bucks app.
