WATERLOO, Iowa – Waterloo topped Rochester, 3-2, in a game that was suspended at the start of the ninth inning back on June 14th. The win snaps the Bucks’ season-high three game losing streak and improves Waterloo’s record to 3-1 against the Rochester Honkers.

Waterloo (21-13) took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of unearned runs in the third. A Rochester two-out fielding error brought in both Alex Boxwell and Lane Milligan for the game’s first runs of the night.

Rochester (7-27) tied the game at 2-2 with two, two-out runs in the seventh. Jacob Thomas’s RBI double made it 2-1 before Keaton Weisz brought in Thomas with an RBI single.

The Bucks regained the lead with a run in the ninth. Robert Neustrom drew a five-pitch walk to begin the inning before Adam McGinnis grounded into a fielder’s choice, resulting in Neustrom being out at second. Zac Sanders then replaced McGinnis as a pinch-runner and stole second before a balk allowed him to move up to third. Zack Soria put Waterloo back in front with an RBI groundout to the left side, scoring Sanders from third.

Steven Baker went five innings for the first time in a no-decision. Baker allowed no runs for the second straight start, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out three.

Derek Hendrixson (4-0) tossed a season-high four innings of relief in the win. Hendrixson yielded two runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out five and issuing an intentional walk.

Jason Ellefson (1-1) suffered the loss. The right-hander allowed one run on one walk, striking out one and committing a balk.
