Waterloo looks to end a season-high three-game losing streak tomorrow at home vs. Rochester

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Waterloo failed to avoid the series sweep on Sunday, falling 2-0, to the Eau Claire Express. The Bucks have now dropped five of their last six and a season-high three straight.  

Eau Claire took a 1-0 lead for the second consecutive evening with a run in the third. Kyle Marinconz recorded the first Express hit of the game with a leadoff single to left. Marinconz then moved up to second on a wild pitch before Cody Bohanek singled through the left side, giving Eau Claire runners on the corners. Two batters later, Zach Ashford reached on an RBI fielder’s choice, allowing Marinconz to score from third.

The Express doubled their lead with a run in the eighth. Alex McKeena recorded the first hit of the inning with a pinch-hit single to center. Rudy Rott then pulled an RBI double off the wall in right, bringing McKeena around to score from first.

Brett Solano (3-2) suffered the loss. The right-hander allowed one run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings, walking two (one intentional) and striking out four.

Hunter Spencer saw his scoreless innings streak snapped at 6 2/3 in the loss. Spencer allowed one run on two hits and an intentional walk while striking out two in 1 2/3 innings.\

Ryan Hamilton (3-3) earned the win with six shutout innings, yielding just five hits and a walk while striking out three. Kenny Ogg recorded a hold with two scoreless innings of relief, retiring five of the six hitters he faced. Christian Tripp (4) secured the win with his second save in as many days with a perfect top of the ninth.

Waterloo wraps up a suspended game from Tuesday, June 14 against the Rochester Honkers on Monday at 6:05 p.m. before playing the originally scheduled game at 7:05 p.m. The suspended game will resume in the top of the ninth with Waterloo leading Rochester, 3-2, before first pitch in the originally scheduled game vs. the Honkers. RHP Jordan Accetta (3-1, 3.45) gets the ball for Waterloo in Monday’s 7.05 p.m. game while RHP Alex Fagalde (0-0, 1.12) counters for Rochester.

Monday, July 4th is Military Heroes Night from Riverfront Stadium and features an Independence Day Jersey Auction. The first 1,000 fans receive a Military Heroes Card set. This Card set recognizes military members throughout the Cedar Valley. Before the game, we will recognize our Military Heroes in our Card set. Independence Day themed jerseys will also be worn by Bucks players to support Honor Flight. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds going to Honor Flight. Jerseys are presented by The Screaming Eagle, The Wild Hare, & The Dirty Dog American Bars & Grills.

Monday’s game is also Buck Night and a Post-Game Fireworks Extravaganza. 10 oz. draft beer, 12 oz. fountain soda, small popcorn and ice cream sandwiches are $1.00 while hot dogs cost just $1.50. Remember to join us for a fireworks show following the Bucks game, too!
