The Waterloo Bucks (2-6) fell to the North-Leading Rochester Honkers (6-2) by a 3-2 final on Tuesday evening.
Down 3-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Ryan Gonzalez and Trey Leonard hit back-to-back singles with one out. Deion Thompson ripped a 2-run single through the right side to cut the lead to 1, but the Bucks comeback fell short in the ninth.
Blake Walden, Brady Corson, and Karl Hirsch combined to provide the Bucks with 4 shutout innings of relief, allowing just 2 hits and a walk total.
Waterloo opens a two-game home series with Duluth on Wednesday night, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
