A 4 run bottom of the sixth coupled with a brilliant relief outing by Matthew Perea (New Mexico State) helped land the Waterloo Bucks (3-7) a 4-1 victory over the Duluth Huskies (6-4) on Thursday night.

Down 1-0 with the bases loaded and one away, Deion Thompson (Western Illinois) drove an RBI single to score Ryan Gonzalez (Incarnate Word). After a fly out, Greg Anderberg (Ellsworth/George Washington) ripped a 2 strike, 2 out, 2-run single to put the Bucks up 3-1, followed by an RBI single by Jeff Deimling (New Mexico) to tack on an insurance run.

Matt Whalen (Colorado Mesa) threw 5.0 innings of 1 run ball for Waterloo, striking out 3 while allowing 3 hits and walking 2. Perea came on in relief in the 6th, and proceeded to fire 3.1 scoreless out of the pen to earn the victory just a few hours after signing with the Bucks. Perea struck out 3 and allowed just 3 hits. Karl Hirsch (Quincy) entered with 2 on and 1 away after Perea struck out a Huskies hitter on a filthy hook in the 9th, and forced a quick pop out and a ground out to earn his first save, as well as extending his scoreless streak to 8.1 innings.

The Bucks open a 2 game road series with the La Crosse Loggers on Friday evening, with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch on the Bucks Radio Network.
