The Waterloo Bucks (5-8) defeated the Eau Claire Express (4-10) by an 8-5 final on Monday night to notch their first sweep of 2018.
Down 2-0 in the third, the Bucks’ Trey Leonard and Drue Galassi each rapped RBI singles to knot the game at 2. Galassi then drove in 2 more in the fifth on a base hit, followed by an RBI single from Patrick Ferguson that brought home an extra run on an error. Joe Aeilts drove in the inning’s 5th run on a sac fly. Skyler Messinger drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to give Waterloo their 8th and final run.
Blake Walden shook off a 2-run first to earn his first win of 2018, throwing 5.0 innings of 2 run ball with 3 strikeouts. Matthew Perea notched his first save of the season by throwing a scoreless ninth.
The Bucks travel to Mankato on Tuesday night to begin a 4-game home-and-home with the Moondogs, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
