The Waterloo Bucks (11-10) fell 10-3 to the Thunder Bay Border Cats (7-14) on Sunday afternoon.
A wild second inning set the stage for a high-stress ball game, as Thunder Bay’s manager and starting pitcher were ejected following two separate incidents, the former of which emptied both benches.
Lorenzo Elion (2-3, BB, R, RBI) reached three times in the loss while Matt Campos (2-4, 2B, RBI) added a two-hit game. Patrick Ferguson wowed fans with a three up, three down effort in the ninth on the mound. Making his collegiate pitching debut, “Ferg” struck out the cleanup batter with a sidearm 78 mile-an-hour “fastball.”
The Bucks and Thunder Bay wrap up their series on Monday evening at 6:35 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium.
