The Waterloo Bucks (24-25, 4-9) fell 11-1 to the Mankato MoonDogs (23-26, 8-5) on a hot, sticky Friday afternoon in the conclusion of Thursday’s suspended game. Both teams gutted through a first-pitch temperature of 93 degrees with a 114 degree heat index.
Outhit 11-1, Waterloo’s lone run came in the second inning on Thursday as Trey Leonard (1-3, R, SB) poked a one-out single. Bryce Wooldridge (0-1, 2 BB, SB) drew a walk, then both took off on a double steal. A throw from Mankato’s catcher intended for third sailed into left, allowing Leonard to score.
Jack Corkery (1.0 ip, H) and Noah Conlon (1.0 ip, 2 H, K) each tossed scoreless innings in the seventh and the eighth.
