Waterloo Bucks (26-26, 6-10) starter Jack Parkinson won his third consecutive start with 5.0 scoreless innings in a 9-1 victory over the La Crosse Loggers (25-27, 8-8) on Sunday afternoon. The two sides concluded their season series, with the Bucks finishing 9-3 against the Loggers.
Parkinson scattered four hits and two walks while striking out four to earn his fourth win of 2019.
Dylan Phillips (1-4, HBP, R, 2B, RBI) began the scoring with an RBI double to score Trey Leonard (2-4, BB, 3 R, 2B) in the first inning. Alonzo Rubalcaba (3-4, BB, 3 RBI) smacked a run-scoring single to right a few batters later, then Mike Nyisztor (0-3, 2 BB, RBI) brought in the third run of the frame while reaching on an error.
Up 3-0 in the fourth, Blake Wagenseller (1-4, BB, 2 R, RBI) and Kyler Arenado (2-3, 2 BB, R) each reached on run-scoring errors, while Phillips scored on a wild pitch to give Waterloo a 6-0 advantage. The Bucks drew five walks in the sixth. Rubalcaba and Nyisztor took free passes with the bases full, putting the Bucks up 8-0.
Waterloo’s final run came on a Rubalcaba eighth-inning RBI single.
The Bucks begin a two-game series against the St. Cloud Rox at home on Monday, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
