Waterloo fell into an early 4-0 hole and never climbed out and lost 5-2 to the Willmar Stingers.

Willmar knocked home the first run of the game with an RBI double from Cesar Lopez. They would add two more runs to go up 3-0 into the fifth. Jayson Newman would add to his homerun total with a solo shot in the fifth to give Willmar a 4-0 lead. That was Newman’s pod-leading 4th homer of the season.

Waterloo countered on a sac bunt from Dalton Shuffield that scored Xane Washington. In the seventh, Brett McCleary knocked home Washington to make the game 5-2. Neither team scored the rest of the game and the Bucks went down in order in the 9th to fall 5-2.

D.J. Wilkinson got the win for Willmar with six innings on the hill with an earned run. Bucks starter Dusty Schramm took the loss with 3.2 innings and three earned runs. Wyatt Thompson picked up the save with two innings out of the bullpen.

The Bucks are back in action tomorrow as they host Mankato for the final game of a four-game homestand.
