The Waterloo Bucks (23-17, 0-6) went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and walked a season-high nine batters in an 8-2 loss to the St. Cloud Rox (29-9, 5-1) on Sunday evening, falling in their seventh straight. Waterloo led 2-0 through two before the Rox plated eight unanswered with one in the third, four in the fifth and three in the ninth.

Jalen Smith (1-for-5, R, RBI), Josh Kasevich (1-for-5, ROE) and Garrett McGowan (1-for-4) began the Bucks’ first with three straight infield singles to load the bases. Max Jung-Goldberg (0-for-3, RBI, SF) plated Smith with a sacrifice fly before St. Cloud escaped the inning allowing just the lone run.

Chris Seng (1-for-4, R, 2 SB) laced a one-out single to left-center, then flashed his speed by stealing both second and third. Smith bounced a ball to third that St. Cloud’s hot-corner defender fielded and threw home, but Seng beat the throw to give the Bucks a short-lived 2-0 lead.

Waterloo will look to snap their seven-game losing streak as they open a four-game series with the Rochester Honkers at Riverfront Stadium on Monday night with a 6:35 p.m. CST first pitch.
