The Waterloo Bucks (35-23, 12-12) fell 6-3 at the hands of the Willmar Stingers (27-32, 11-12) on Monday evening in their opener of a two-game series. Camren Landry worked 6.0 innings of three-run baseball in his final start of the summer, scattering nine hits and five walks while striking out four. Josh Kasevich (2-for-3, 2 RBI, SF) had the Bucks’ lone multi-hit game.

Trailing 1-0 in the third, Sam Biller (1-for-4, R, SB) and Chris Seng (1-for-3, BB, R, SB) led off with back-to-back singles then executed a double steal. Jalen Smith (1-for-3, BB, RBI, SF) plated Biller with a sac fly then Kasevich scored Seng on a groundout.

Waterloo plated their final run in the seventh as Emi Gonzalez (1-for-4, R) singled, advanced to second on a Seng walk then raced to third as Smith singled before scoring on a Kasevich sacrifice fly.

The evening also marked the final game for 2021 Northwoods League All-Star Garrett McGowan.

Six Waterloo Bucks will participate in the Major League Dreams Showcase on Tuesday in La Crosse as Michael Mitchell, Duncan Davitt, Brycen Mautz, Max Jung-Goldberg, Johnny Tincher and Kasevich will be playing in the 4:05 p.m. Game One at Copeland Park. The Bucks and Stingers wrap up their series on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. CST in Waterloo.
